Day 36

Oct. 12, 2019

We found the new home of Techno Mermaid - 1000 Granby St. in Norfolk.

Sadly, we looked for Flight at 355 W. Freemason St. only to find the lot empty.  Upon a bit of research, we discovered there was a fire at the location a few years ago.  Her pole still stands there, but it is now empty.   Anyone know where she might be now?

News & Updates:
Kaleidoscope was taken down when the new sign at Norfolk Scope/Chrysler Hall went up. She is currently in storage, awaiting repair.

The mermaid that was temporarily at the Slover Library was a gift of the Norfolk Sister Cities to Kochi, India. If you go to the interactive mermaid map (which is constantly being updated), you can see a picture of her if you zoom out far enough to see the entire globe. https://www.norfolk.gov/1962/Mermaid-Interactive-Spotting-Map.

Techno mermaid is back in Norfolk - I will seek her out this weekend!  Check back soon for updates!

Also, want to check on Flight.  I have never been able to find her but I will try again this weekend.

And a new to me one as well - check back soon!

*Thanks to the Norfolk Arts Commission for these updates!

Day 30

July 9, 2015

Today we had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful people of Susan G. Komen Tidewater.  They invited us in to meet their two beautiful mermaids, Susie and Asha, both breast cancer awareness mermaids.  They were all so welcoming and kind and even had gift bags prepared for the boys!  To top off the visit, we got to meet the amazing Georgia Mason, the talented artist behind many of the Norfolk mermaids, including the two from today.  Georgia is as lovely as her mermaids and we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to speak with her.  Thanks everyone!

"Susie" - Susie the traveling mermaid even has her own twitter page!
"Asha" - a smaller mermaid that also travels to raise awareness for breast cancer
