Still only a few mermaid sightings - and a lot of missing mermaids. Spoke to a WONDERFUL lady, Sandee, at
Frank Spicer Restaurant Equipment who was a wealth of information about the Norfolk Mermaids. She helped design the mermaid "Timeless Elegance." That mermaid was sold at auction to benefit
CHKD and her whereabouts are unknown at this time other than she was to be put in a fountain somewhere. Sandee was also very generous and gave us a laminated newspaper article from Nov. 13, 2000 detailing the "Norfolk Mermaids on Parade - Mermaid Splash for the Arts." It talks about the original benefit auction for the Norfolk mermaids. She also generously gave us a very beautiful Norfolk Mermaid calendar from 2004. Very cool!
Sidenote - I am now thinking Timeless Elegance might be Accidental Tourist at 1838 Ocean View Ave. They look very similar...
Here are the ones we did find today:
Jester on bldg of 110 E Olney
Jester up close - she is really pretty!
mermaid at Fred Heutte Center 1000 Botetourt Gardens - she is kind of in bad shape in spots with some peeling paint and weathering
